Put-in-Bay Oktoberfest 2016

The 23rd Annual Oktoberfest hosted by the Put-in-Bay Chamber of Commerce will be held October 8th-9th.

The event will be held 11am to 7pm on Saturday and from 12pm to 5pm on Sunday, and will take place under a tent in DeRivera Park, downtown Put-In-Bay.

The German-style festival features a wide array of German food from island restaurants, hot spiced wine and cold beer, German Music from The Maxx Band, German dancers and more.

Admission to Oktoberfest is $4 each day or a two-day pass can be purchased from $6. Children 12 and under are free when accompanied by an adult. Additional information on the event and lodging can be found at www.putinbay.com read more

JET EXPRESS HOSTS “WILL’S DAY AT THE BAY”

Jet Express is hosting “Will’s Day at the Bay” to raise money for families affected by Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA). On Wednesday, June 8, round-trip Jet Express tickets from Port Clinton to Put-in-Bay will be available for a minimum donation of $9.00 from 8AM-11AM (or until 600 tickets are sold). Jet Express will donate 100% of proceeds to Cure SMA and Will’s Playground at DeRivera Park in Put-in-Bay. The tickets must be purchased at the Port Clinton dock and must be used on Wednesday, June 8.

SMA is a motor neuron disease that affects activities such as crawling, walking, and swallowing. It is relatively common for a “rare disorder,” affecting roughly 1 in 6000 babies; about 1 in 40 people carry the SMA gene. SMA is always fatal in children. read more

Info: Islanders and island business owners are cleaning out what they no longer need and offering to shoppers for a bargain. This annual island wide garage sale has become an exciting attraction! To have your address on the free map, contact the  Put-in-Bay Chamber of Commerce at 419-285-2832, no later than Tuesday, May 17th.  The map will be sent to print on May 19th and available on Friday afternoon, May 20th at the following locations: The Put-in-Bay Chamber of Commerce, the Depot, Miller Boat Line and the Jet Express, and several island restaurants that serve breakfast. We don’t set the hours for the garage sale, but look for most sellers to start around 10 and wrap up by 5 pm or earlier. read more

Put in Bay Draft Day 5k

PUT-IN-BAY — The NFL Draft Day is now behind us and the Cleveland Browns are looking forward to a great rebuilding season with some top-notch draft picks! Put-in-Bay even has its own special group to cheer on and support the Browns. The Lake Erie Islands Browns Backers, headquarted on Put-in-Bay Ohio, spends all year raising money for the local community as well as cheering on the Browns.

This year’s fundraising started with the 2nd Annual Draft Day 5k on April 30th this past weekend. Every participant received an Official Draft Day 5k Jersey, free lunch, drink discounts, and tickets into a raffle for Cleveland Browns autographed footballs, framed and signed pictures and more! This event benefited the Lake Erie Islands Browns Backers and everyone’s support of this race was greatly appreciated as all proceeds from the race will go directly to the Lake Erie Islands Browns Backers. read more

In the Southwest corner of the Lake Erie Basin, there is a little island called South Bass Island. This island is home to the famous, some may say infamous, summer boating town of Put-in-Bay, Ohio. Visitors come from near and far to enjoy the summer activities both on and off the water from April 1st through October 31st. Do you wish you were down in Key West last weekend at Put-in-Bay Days? So do we! The island may be cold now for the winter ice fishermen with good ice conditions, but it won’t be long before we reopen our doors for the Spring and Summer and shorts and sandals will be the standard. 2015 Put-in-Bay Historical Weekend was Again a Success!

This past weekend featured some of the best weather of the summer with warm sunny days and cool comfortable evenings. Historical buffs and revelers alike descended upon the island and partook of the many different historical celebrations throughout the three-day event. Some of the more memorable events:

9/11 Sunset Tribute on Friday night at Perry’s Victory & International Peace Monument.

Perry’s Victory Heritage Festival on Perry’s Monument lawn. The 202nd Anniversary of the Battle of Lake Erie took place this weekend. Art, history, and an 1812 military encampment plus about 1,200 Boy Scouts camped on the memorial east lawn. The annual Grande Parade was held at 2:15 p.m. on Saturday and had a record crowd. read more

2015 Put in Bay Fall Ball Customer Party

Put-in-Bay Fall Ball 2015 – October 2-3

For 17 years, this annual fall festival called the Put-in-Bay Fall Ball (http://www.putinbayfallball.com) has been taking place at the Island Club Homes on South Bass Island. It started out as a gathering of friends with a few beers, guitars, and bonfires and has grown into an all-out party with well over 1700 people in attendance. The adult beverages have grown up to a complete keg truck. The music has grown up to multiple bands and island musicians. And thousands of hamburgers, hot dogs, and bratwurst have been added to feed the hungry masses. This two-day customer appreciation party is open to all guests who are staying at The Island Club, The Commodore Resort, The Put-in-Bay Condos, Victory Station Hotel, and the Blue Harbour Hotel. Wristbands will be provided at check-in to allow you to gain access to the party for free! There are still a handful of hotel rooms and two rental houses left for this huge end-of-season party.
