Black Friday is an informal name for the Friday following Thanksgiving Day in the United States, which is celebrated on the fourth Thursday of November. The day after Thanksgiving has been regarded as the beginning of America’s Christmas shopping season since 1952, although the term “Black Friday” didn’t become widely used until more recent decades. Put-in-Bay is physically closed by this point in the year, but our virtual presence is ready and waiting for you!
The term Cyber Monday, a neologism invented in 2005 by the National Retail Federation’s division Shop.org, refers to the Monday immediately following Black Friday based on a trend that retailers began to recognize. Retailers noticed that many consumers, who were too busy to shop over the Thanksgiving weekend or did not find what they were looking for, shopped for bargains online that Monday from home or work. This year, Cyber Monday occurs on December 2nd.
Tuesday, December 3rd is Travel Deal Tuesday, a national shopping event dedicated to helping consumers discover and book unique discounts and offers on travel, as well as celebrate travel providers who make these experiences possible.
