The Chicken Patio is nothing short of an island institution.  Founded in 1952, generations of Put-in-Bay guests have enjoyed their fare.  Most notably, the feature item is open pit chicken basted in a house made wine sauce.  Originally, just a small grill covered the cooking needs.  Today, a 21 foot charcoal grill accommodates the huge demand.

World Famous Roundhouse Bar

Location is everything.  Moreover, the Chicken Patio is no exception to this rule of thumb.  The World Famous Roundhouse Bar is directly next door.  Additionally, the historic Park Hotel is just behind the grill.  Initially, The Roundhouse Bar was opened in 1863 as the Columbia Restaurant.  Here, guests could choose from beer, wine, snacks and food.  Most notably, at the time cottage cheese and ice cream were big sellers.

Interestingly, there was no electricity at the original Roundhouse.  So, blocks of ice cut during the Winter months and used throughout the tourist season.  The ice stored at the Ice House, the present day Put-in-Bay Winery, kept things cool.  Fortunately, technology has advanced and icy cold beverages await.  Also, there is exceptional live entertainment at the Roundhouse.  Most notably, Mike “Mad Dog” Adams graces the stage throughout the season.  Surely, his one man comedy and music act is not to be missed.  Most impressive, he has played on this stage for over 35 years.

Natasha S: “This place had the best customer service!. There was a little boy in the glasses that came up and took our plates. He seemed so happy to work here!!!! We appreciate his great customer service, we will definitely be back!”

Lorrie C: “I never pass up The Chicken Patio when I visit Put-In-Bay Island. You can’t miss it, for it is located on the main street (Delaware Street) in front of the Park Hotel, right across from the park. The scent of BBQ chicken being grilled by friendly young men will surely make you stop. A dinner consists of half a chicken, potato salad and corn on the cob. Sweet! If you would like to have lunch or dinner in an outdoor, patio setting, I highly recommend The Chicken Patio.”

Jamice A: “You’ll smell the deliciousness as you walk by the all outdoor chicken patio at Put in Bay. Don’t just keep walking! For $13 you get half a delicious chicken, sweet corn, a roll, and potato salad. There’s even a bar in the same patio eating area. Always a quick and delicious meal any time of the day!”
