What’s Happening at Your Local Library?

We have a new year-round librarian! Suzette Luecke has joined our crew. Her willingness to pitch in and do all the little tasks is appreciated. Stop by to meet Suzette.

Mon., Apr. 7th – 1 p.m.: “Take a Break” Book Club – We thought we needed a different kind of book club. For this meeting, read a book of your choosing that is nonfiction. We will be meeting in the library where you can relax with a warm cup of coffee or tea. No registration required.

Sat., Apr. 12th – 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Mon., Apr. 14th – 10 to 11:30 a.m.: It’s Scrabble Day! – Did you know that Scrabble Day is on April 13th? We thought it would be fun to have a Scrabble Day at the library to honor Scrabble inventor Alfred Mosher Butts. Stop by Erie Islands Library to play this crossword-style board game.

Wed., Apr. 16th – 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.: It’s Banana Day! – National Banana Day is celebrated on the third Wednesday of April each year. It’s a day to celebrate this versatile fruit. Anyone stopping by the library today will receive an individually wrapped pack of banana candy!

Wed., April 16th – 5:30 p.m.: Words & Wine Book Club – Join us and share a book you have read while enjoying a beverage of your own choosing. Even if you haven’t had time to read, you are welcome to join us to hear what others are suggesting. We can’t wait to hear what you have been reading! New adult members are always welcome. Call the library for the location of this event. No registration necessary.

Sat., Apr. 26th and Mon., Apr. 28th: It’s Gummi Bears 100th Anniversary Celebration! – On Sunday, April 27th, Haribo is celebrating 100 years of gummi bears. Since we are not open on Sunday, we’re having a two-day celebration! On Saturday, April 26th and Monday, April 28th, help us to salute this all-time favorite sweet treat. Free packs will be distributed to everyone who comes to the library during open hours. While supply lasts.
