Lots of people are thinking visitation to the island is down this summer. Many tourist areas are reporting the same. A recent report says the U.S. economy is expecting a drop in tourism revenue in 2025, $12.5 billion loss, about –7% vs. 2024.
Pinky’s Pond is nowhere to be found on the 1874 map of Put-in-Bay Island.
A recent outlook for 2025-26 winter calls for it to be very cold and snowy in our area.
Put-in-Bay recently made two lists on the internet: 2025’s 10 Best Small Towns To Visit In Ohio and The 6 Can’t-Miss Towns In Ohio
Seventy years ago in 1955, Put-in-Bay School had one teacher for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd grades and one for the 4th, 5th and 6th grades. This year, the two students in the 1st grade, Evie Cultice and Greta Koehler, have one teacher just for themselves.

In the down and out, but getting better news department are several islanders. Commodore Ed Fitzgerald from Mr. Ed’s Bar suffered a severe heart attack in August, and is now taking it easy and on the road to recovery. Roger Rhoad from
East Point slipped and broke a hip which landed him in the hospital. He’s back on the island and itching to go fishing. Village Councilwoman Pam Stephens and her mother Rosi Stephens both had respiratory issues that put dents in their summer activities, but given they were seen dining at the Crew’s Nest patio, they must be much better.
Earlier this summer, Putinbay.com’s web cam on the top of the Monument and the Boardwalk’s Lobster Bisque each hit 2,000,000 views.
The Ohio Investigative Unit had undercover officers in the crowds at the Bash on the Bay to enforce drug and liquor laws.
