Men of the Bass Islands Calendar!

It’s a tasteful tribute to the everyday hero, the bartender, the boat captain, the pizza prince. Stay tuned for the 2025/2026 Men of the Bass Islands calendar. We can hardly wait to see those muscles!

According to the Internet

We found this interesting tidbit on the Internet. Apparently the old Crescent Tavern that was torn down a couple of years ago had a seating capacity of 1,500. We think that’s a bit in excess.

Have You Seen….?

Have you seen the new furniture at The Keys and The Main Deck?

Apparently Not

At the recent award ceremony for PIB elementary students, the second graders were asked, “Are you ready to go into the 3rd grade?” – One student loudly replied, “NO!”

St. Paul’s On YouTube

St. Paul’s is on YouTube! The church is uploading all its Facebook live videos and is looking into how to livestream to both Facebook and Youtube at the same time. The church needs at least 50 subscribers in order to livestream directly. Check it out at http://www.youtube.com/@StPaulsPut-in-Bay.

A Blast From The Past

We were happy to see Andrea Wilson Schlageter and her husband Matthew at Don Breier’s Celebration of Life at the PIB Town Hall. Andrea was the secretary for Ohio State University’s Store Lab for many years before leaving the island in 1992. Matthew worked with Woody Widmar in the kitchen at Tipper’s.

Patron Scan

At a recent Village Council meeting, the topic of problem makers in island watering holes came up. Someone suggested “Patron Scan,” a scanner that scans IDs as people enter an establishment and then allows for notations on the ID profile if they cause trouble. When the patron tries to enter another bar, the ID check can see if he/she is a trouble maker who should be denied entrance. Not a bad idea!

Joining Falcon Twirling Team

Jacob Seaman (PIBHS Class of 2025) recently tried out for the Bowling Green State University’s Falcon Twirling Team. He is now a Bowling Green State University Twirler! Congratulations Jacob, Go Falcons!

Public Notice

The township trustees want you to know that the scrap metal bin located behind the Township building at the transfer station is for drop-offs only. For safety reasons, please do not dig through or climb on the scrap metal. Thank you!…. Gee! That’s was the best part of going to the old dump back in the day.

Grapevines Available

Stop by the Duff Homestead Preserve on Bayview Ave. to get your free grapevines for the fire to grill steaks and to buy native plants. The vines are also nice for decorating.

Enforcing The Law

As the 2025 Summer Season starts, the Put-in-Bay Police Officers would like to remind drivers they will continue to enforce all Ohio motor vehicle laws in the Village to keep residents and visitors safe. Remember, drivers and passengers of golf carts driven on Village roads must comply with all Ohio laws, just as if they were in a car or truck. Don’t forget to buckle up!

In Training

Tony Kowalski, PIBHS Class of 1997, is charting a bold course as he trains to become the next captain of Cantankerous — the vital fuel vessel that serves the Lake Erie Islands.

Pink Catawba House

The old house across Lakeview Ave. from St. Paul’s is currently being painted. We hear that the Pink Catawba House will actually be a beautiful pink. If you want to see what the owners have done to the house, check it out at www.pinkcatawbahouse.com .

Mother/Daughter Walking

Many people have seen Bobbi Dobos walking everyday, but did you know her 10-year old daughter Braylee has also walked a mile every single day since October 1st. Congrats, Braylee.

Former Police Chief News

Former PIB Police Chief Richard Schwable, won his Republican primary race for Fremont’s City Council 3rd Ward seat. Schwable was chief for a couple of seasons back in the 1990s under Mayor Steve Urge.

Helped Wanted At The Library

The Put-in-Bay Library is still looking for a part-time clerk. If you are interested in finding out more, please contact Karen Wilhelm at the library at the school on Erie St.

Fun Video To Watch on YouTube

Check out “Mooring Ball Tie Up 101 at Put-in-Bay” on YouTube. Eric Booker is truly professional as he demonstrates how to tie a boat to one of the mooring buoys in PIB harbor.
